About Me
I'm Harrison Smith, a software engineer based in Indianapolis, IN. I graduated from Purdue University in May 2025 with a BS in Computer Engineering and a minor in German.
I currently work at Winthrop Capital Management, where I've led the architecture of Web WOMBAT — a cloud-native web application with the goal of replacing a decade-old WinForms system used by investment analysts and operations. It runs on Angular, ASP.NET, and Azure.
My background spans the full stack: C# and .NET on the backend, Angular and React on the frontend, Azure for infrastructure (Bicep, App Services, SQL Server, Redis, Container Registry), and Docker-based CI/CD with Azure Pipelines. I care a lot about clean architecture, RESTful API design, and making sure performance decisions are grounded in data.
Beyond Engineering
During my four years at Purdue I served as President of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Student Society, where I managed a $25,000 annual budget across 11 committees and helped restructure the org to improve member engagement. Leadership and community have always been as important to me as technical work.
I also speak German at an advanced proficiency level — I minored in it at Purdue and completed coursework through German literature and culture. It started when I lived in Heidelberg, Germany from ages 9-13 and turned into one of my favorite ongoing challenges.
